A little bit about me…

I am a SAHM and previously ‘retired’ Probation (Parole) Officer adapting to life in south-west France with my two beautiful daughters and the lovely Mr B. I have had HS for over 13 years, but was only diagnosed in 2011. I have since tried to find the best way to heal myself without causing more damage to my body.

My journey begun with a Paleo/Primal diet in 2012 and since then I have lost over 35lbs, gained some control of this disease and found that lifestyle evolution (even at this old age) is entirely possible! When I started out, I couldn’t even comprehend what it would be like to live with no pasta. A year down the line and I am amazed at the flourishing resources for beautiful recipes and ingredients available for free on t’interweb. What starts as the road less travelled opens you up to a happy, healthy and proactive community who will help you every step of the way. What lucky beings we all are. Follow me!

  1. Hi, I came across your tweets and then saw your blog. I wanted to let you know that my HS has gone into 99,9% remission by following a gluten free diet. To me this proves that food definately has a big influence on your skin conditio, no matter what the doctors say! In my case, I didn’t see any improvement until after six months. Then it went rapidly. I am now ‘clean’ for over a year. I hate the diet, but it’s so worth it! Hopefully this will give you strength on those tough moments! Regards, Elisabeth from Amersfoort, The Netherlands (and definately wishing I was also living in the south of France!).

    • Hey Els!

I love a good success story – its stories like yours that keep me hopeful! I must say that the diet is the best thing that has ever happened to me – but it’s also tremendously difficult to keep up 100% of the time. I have had a full day of clean-eating today and have planned my main meals for the week, so I’m feeling motivated (I’m sure I say that every other day!). I may write some more about the diet this week.

Please come back for a read anytime – I’d love to hear more about your journey and any tips you may have for us all 🙂

      P.S. I LOVE Holland – sooo beautiful!
